Essential Tips for Quality Testing Bricks on Your Construction Site

"Always perform drop and sound tests on arrival to verify optimal curing and compressive durability."

Before laying bricks into mortar, on-site quality checks save immense time and prevent structural cracks. Here are quick, actionable field tests you can conduct immediately on delivery:

  • Metallic Ringing Sound: Strike two bricks together; a clear metallic ringing sound indicates thorough curing and dense composition.
  • Drop Test: Drop a brick flat from a height of about 1 meter (3-4 feet) onto firm ground. A quality brick will not break.
  • Water Absorption: Immerse the brick in water for 24 hours. Quality bricks should not absorb water exceeding 15-20% of their dry weight.
